THE LUXPLUS GUIDE ON HOW TO MAKE THE MOST OF YOUR PERFUME

THE LUXPLUS GUIDE ON HOW TO MAKE THE MOST OF YOUR PERFUME

By Lonni Sandbjerg
Get your perfume to smell more intense and last longer. Our step by step perfume guide will give you a few good tricks to keep up your sleeve.

We all love the sweet scent of perfume on our body. Perfume is one of those items that we splash a fair bit of money on, so why not get it to last as long possible and have the best effect on our skin and body? Here are some quick tips to get your perfume to be as effective as possible :

  • The wrists
  • The inside of your elbows
  • The neck
  • Behind your knees (yes, we are being serious- the warmth trapped in the folds behind your knees helps perfume spread to other parts of your body)
  • Under your earlobes (not behind, but under)
  • On your collarbone

Perfume Tip 1: Find The Best Hotspot

The effect of perfume is amplified in warm areas of your body where there is good blood circulation. Perfume notes are more intense and widespread in such areas, giving a more distinct scent that holds for longer periods. As a rule of thumb, spots on your body where a pulse is present are great locations to apply perfume to.
The best areas to apply perfume on your body are:

Perfume Tip 2: Complement Your Perfume

A great meal often comes with a decent dessert. Complement the properties of  your perfume by making sure that your skin is moisturized before you apply perfume to it, as it will last much longer on moist areas than it will on dry, parched skin. A good body lotion should do the trick.

Perfume Tip 3: Always Keep Your Distance

Avoid the tendency to spray too close to the skin. A spraying distance of 20cm allows the notes of your perfume to spread over a larger area than if you spray it directly onto one particular spot.

Perfume Tip 4: Stop Rubbing Those Wrists

Contrary to popular belief, the cliché wrist rubbing action that many of us use to spread our perfume is actually quite damaging to the light top fragrance notes. The friction between your skin’s natural oils and the perfume rushes the fragrance, bypassing its opening and going straight to the heart notes, minimizing its overall effect.

Perfume tip 5: Don’t Be a Rookie, Avoid Mixing Perfumes

Mixing two different perfumes is an absolute no-go! Every perfume is unique and has qualities that are specific to it. You wouldn’t mix two wines together in the same glass either, so keep your perfumes separate to get the best out of them.
